Sustainability is Rooted in Celebration

Updated: Jun 1, 2023

Hi friend!

I hope you are having a great week so far and pray that your heart will be encouraged today and filled with hope and joy! ☀️

I've been thinking a lot lately about the importance of celebrating. 🎉

It's far too easy and definitely tempting to sink into stuck feelings or downward thought spirals whenever we aren't quite where we want to be or didn't do the thing we wanted to do again.

But, I'm finding more and more that true and lasting change and sustainability are rooted in grace, joy, gratitude, and celebration!

For example, I love to set a goal of walking 10,000 steps. But, sometimes I only get in 3,000 or maybe 5,000.

Rather than the default we can easily fall into of saying to ourselves, “ugh, again! Another goal that I just can't meet. What's the point?”… what if we thought, “Yes girl! You got outside, you moved the incredible body that God has created for you! I'm so thankful to Him that I can move!”.

I've started to simply become an observer of my thoughts and now catch myself more and more when I begin to become negative. I have been working on grabbing the wheel of the ship and steering it back to the path of celebration, gratitude, and thankfulness.

What is so cool is when we begin to celebrate the little things more and speak to ourselves with kindness and gentleness like we talk to others, we will find ourselves eager and looking forward to getting back out there and walking… however far we may go that day just because it's a GIFT…. a JOY… and a DELIGHT from the Lord. It's no longer just a number, a checkbox, or something I feel like I have to do or prove to myself.

Friend, I'm not sure exactly what is on your agenda today or what you may be facing in life right now. I know that “counting it all joy” isn't typically easy.

When I talk and think about gratitude, joy, and delight, I'm definitely not just talking about overcoming negativity or hardship with mere positivity. We need much more than positivity in this life and in our spirit. We need Hope.

I pray that God Himself will become the rock of our life and foundation for our wellness. The true kind of wellness that starts deep in our spirit when we fellowship with our Creator, King, and Savior.

The Lord desires to be in a close relationship with you and to be the one carrying you. He is never failing. He is Hope.

He created you because He loves you and wanted one of YOU in this world and wants to spend forever with you.

He— the One who holds the depths of the earth in His hand, who made the sea, and sculpted the dry land (Psalm 95)— He delights in you.

He is the source of Life, Light, and Joy that never run out.

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

—‭‭Psalm‬ ‭16‬:‭11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As we go into the rest of our day, I pray that we will shift into greater wellness, true wellness that begins with delighting in our almighty, good, unwavering, faithful, and trustworthy God who loves us more than we will ever be able to fathom and came to us so that we can have true joy in Him. 💛

Celebrating you,

Heather ☺️
