Hi, friend! I hope this email finds you well! :) This week, I am continuing to write on the subject of non-toxic living + share with you some changes our family has made in the kitchen over the last year for better health! Below are 5 things you can begin to make safer swaps in!

Let me know if you have any questions or if you are ready to go further in taking more steps towards a more non-toxic and healthy lifestyle for your health! Check out the Evergreen Method - 1:1 Coaching Program to talk more and customize a plan for you!

1. Glass Food Storage Containers

Plastic and heat don't mix. As plastic heats and degrades over time, harmful chemicals, like BPAs or Phthalates, leech into our food and can damage the liver, kidneys, lungs, and reproductive system.

Here are the glass storage containers from Amazon Basics we have been using and really liking so far!

2. Non-toxic Cookware

The last thing we want to be cooking in or on is cookware that has toxic materials or coatings. Traditional cast iron skillets are great, as well as brands like Green Pan and Caraway for nonstick needs.

3. Non-toxic Bakeware

Glass brands like Pyrex or Anchor Hocking dishes are great! Stainless steel baking sheets, lined with parchment paper rather than aluminum foil are also a good swap. Cast iron can go in the over too for baking! Pure silicone muffins pans are another option as well.

I got a glass loaf pan at Publix recently by Anchor Hocking for less than $10!

4. Non-toxic utensils

Plastic spatulas and utensils have been commonly used for awhile, but I definitely recommend trading those in for non-toxic silicone or wooden utensils. Classic wooden spoons are great, and silicone spatulas are perfect for sautéing and more!

5. Dish Soap + Detergent

I recommend the ECOS brand of dish soap. Their "free and clear" and lavender scents are both rated A on the EWG.

For dishwashing detergent, Seventh Generation Ultra Power Plus Dishwasher packs (don't get the liquid kind as I learned the liquid kind was a D) or Thrive Market unscented dishwasher packs or powder are both rated A! Thrive is definitely a better deal!

Here are shopping links for everything:

  • Green Pan Lima 8" Ceramic Non-Stick Open Frypan, Gray

    • This is one of their inexpensive ones, they have lots of different styles and price points depending on what you're looking for.

    • Remember to check TJ Maxx for this though as we got ours there for $10 less than Amazon

  • Teamfar Baking Sheets

    • These are actually on sale on Amazon right now. We have been using these, and they are pretty good! I'll be on the look out or even more thick or durable ones to share if I find others.

  • Thrive Market

    • Shop at Thrive Market to get a great deal on ECOS dish soap, discounts on Seventh Generation dish detergents and Thrive Market dish detergents! You can also get LOTS of amazing healthy food and more non-toxic home and personal care products up to 25-50% off retail.

To healthier living together,

Heather
