I found this awesome healthy hot chocolate recipe from Detoxinista last year, and have been enjoying and adapting it this year with some amazing superfood add-ins! I hope you'll enjoy this as a new favorite this year for Christmas-time!
Cacao is a superfood— chocolate in it's raw form that is rich in health benefits!! Swap your cocoa for cacao for brain-boosting and antioxidant-rich power! Superfood Hot Chocolate
1 cup organic almond milk (coconut or oat milk works too)
1 tablespoon raw cacao powder
1 Tablespoon pure maple syrup
¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 scoop of flavorless collagen powder (protein to help skin, joints + more)
1 serving of lemon balm (for stress resilience + calm)
pinch of salt
Blend all these ingredients in a blender, then transfer into a saucepan to heat thoroughly, stirring occasionally until hot. If you don't have collagen or lemon balm, feel free to leave those out and still enjoy the basic recipe for now! Those two ingredients are just additional superfood boosts to add in!
