Tip: Add Healthy Fats to Your Meals to Increase Your Energy
I want to encourage you to add some healthy fats to your meals today! This will help you gain and sustain energy by stabilizing your blood sugar levels to keep your energy from dipping throughout the day. Consuming healthy fats like salmon, avocado, nuts and seeds, and beneficial oils like olive oil or avocado oil will also help you stay satiated. Lacking healthy fat causes us to want to eat more and have roller coaster cravings.
Many of us have probably heard of some of these foods to add in, and it may not be new information. However, I think it's normally our pace of life that can throw us off from making decisions around food that are aligned with what we desire and know is best for our health and feeling vibrant.
It can be tempting to default to something sugary or processed which lacks nutrients and can cause us to get stuck in a cycle of consuming sugar and bottoming out from it only to crave it again which can feel difficult and discouraging. So, I want to invite you to pick just one action step from the healthy fat add-ins below to incorporate into your meals this week. Here are a few of my favorite ways to add in healthy fats:
a handful of nuts (cashews, almonds, walnuts, etc.) with a piece of fruit that is in season… pear and apple are in season right now and are great
a scoop of almond butter or cashew butter into oatmeal or a smoothie
a tablespoon of coconut oil or MCT oil in your coffee, tea, or smoothie
enjoy salmon, tilapia, or even shrimp for lunch or dinner a few times during the week (and don't forget budget-friendly, portable options like canned salmon or oysters!)
half an avocado in a smoothie or protein shake— you can add almost anything to smoothies! :) Avocado adds an amazing creaminess + provides our bodies with great slow-burning fuel for lasting energy
If you are feeling stuck at all in a sugar cravings roller coaster, I'd love to help you with practically incorporating foods that will help you gain + sustain energy! Check out the Evergreen Method - 1:1 Coaching Program today!
Cheering you on, girl!
